If I Controlled Your Remote… 7/20/15

Limetime’s scripted reality show based drama UnREAL continues to impress. Last week, the producers of Everlasting, the show-within-the-show, were in panic mode, trying to deal with the aftermath of contestant Mary’s suicide. In order to keep the show on the air they had to make sure it looked like no one related to the show was involved. Shia confessed to Rachel that she had swapped out Mary’s pills, so she was immediately whisked off the set and put in isolation so she couldn’t talk to anyone. Meanwhile, Kirk, Mary’s abusive ex, decided to cash in on the incident and said he was going to press charges against the show. So Rachel forged a suicide note that both exposed Kirk’s true nature as well as exonerated the show from any responsibility for Mary’s death. While Mary’s sister knew the note was a fake, she went along with it in order to get Kirk out of her and her niece’s lives.

Did anyone actually believe that suicide note? In real life I don’t think any reality show would be allowed to stay on the air after a contestant commits suicide, but somehow it worked for these Everlasting producers. Will Shia face any consequences, or will the show just go on? Rachel found solace for Mary’s death in Adam’s bed, but how long can that go on? And what about Jeremy–is he planning to leave his fiancee for Rachel? Last week Maya called out the producers for their manipulations of the contestants and quit the show–who will be the next contestant to leave or be eliminated, and will any of them even find love Everlasting?

In tonight’s episode, “Two”, Adam is offered an interesting proposal, with the final elimination ceremony right around the corner. Meanwhile, Rachel is pulled between Jeremy and Adam; and Chet makes a decision about his relationship with Quinn.

I’ll also be watching/recording Running Wild With Bear Grylls, Chasing Life, Becoming Us, Odd Mom Out, Major Crimes, Murder in the First, Devious Maids, and Teen Wolf.
