After almost four months away, tonight Empire finally returns to FOX. When we last left off, Cookie was busy setting up a concert for Family Day at her old prison. Meanwhile, Lucious was about to make his big announcement about SwiftStream, and invited Mimi to the stage to do so, but in an unexpected twist, she called for a vote to remove Lucious as the head of the company. Afterwards, Camilla paid a visit to Hakeem, suggestively fondling him while promising to take his career to the next level. That seemed to be all the convincing he needed, because at the vote Hakeem voted to oust his father from his own company. At the end of the midseason finale, a very pregnant Rhonda was pushed down the stairs by an unknown assailant as the the nominees for the American Sound Awards were announced on a TV in the background–both Jamal and Lucious were nominated for Song of the Year.…
