Last week, The Americans continued to prove why it is one of the best dramas on TV. Both the KGB and the Feds were on a desperate search for Martha. She had made her way to a payphone where she made a teary goodbye to her parents—it was unclear whether she thought she was going to be killed, or if she might jump from the nearby bridge on her own. The Feds tracked the call and were making their way to the park, but Elizabeth got there first, and told her Martha the unhappy truth that she would be going on a one way trip to the Soviet Union, and that Clark/Philip/Mikhail would not be joining her. Martha was sad that she would once again be alone, but “Jennifer” assured her that she would be well taken care of. Meanwhile, Agent Gaad came to the shocking realization that his longtime secretary had been seduced by and married a KGB officer—how could he have not seen how lonely and unhappy she must have been?!
