Tonight, NBC kicks off the hilarious new comedy Trial & Error. The series is a parody of the true crime documentary genre, following the trial of the People v Larry Henderson. Young New York City lawyer Josh Segal (Nicholas D’Agosto, Gotham) heads to the small town of East Peck, South Carolina, to defend community college poetry professor Larry Henderson (John Lithgow, The Crown), who has been charged with murdering his wife. Josh sets up his office inside a taxidermy shop and quickly meets his quirky team. Lead investigator Dwayne Reed (Steven Boyer, Orange Is the New Black) is a dim-witted country bumpkin, while head researcher/assistant Anne Flatch (Sherri Shepherd, The Soul Man) seems to suffer from an endless list of odd ailments and disorders. While Larry’s adopted daughter Summer (Krysta Rodriguez, Smash) believes her father’s innocence, Larry’s eccentric behavior constantly makes Josh doubt his client. Meanwhile, Assistant DA Carol Anne Keane (Jayma Mays, Glee) is anxious for a conviction and is willing to drag out some pretty obscure laws that are still on the books in this backwoods town in order to secure her promotion to DA.…
