Tonight the National Geographic channel kicks off the new scripted series Genius, a period drama following the adventures of Albert Einstein through two different stages of his life. In the 1920s, Einstein (Geoffrey Rush, Pirates of the Caribbean) lives in Berlin with wife Elsa (Emily Watson), where he works as a university professor. However, Hitler is starting to rise to power, and Germany is quickly becoming a dangerous place. In the late 1890s, a younger Albert (Johnny Flynn, Lovesick) finds himself bored by the slow pace of his school and wants to jump ahead to university. However, while he knows his physics, he needs a more well-rounded education in order to pass the entrance exam, and so he seeks the assistance of mentor Jost Winteoer (Nicholas Rowe, The Crown). But no amount of studying can prepare him for the university experience that lies ahead…
