GHOST WARS Press Room – San Diego Comic-Con 2017

Aug 17, 2017 Posted by in Interviews | Comments

This fall, Syfy will premiere the new scripted paranormal/horror series Ghost Wars.

Ghost Wars is set in a remote Alaskan town that has been overrun by paranormal forces. Local outcast Roman Mercer (Avan Jogia) must overcome the town’s prejudices and his own personal demons if he’s to harness his repressed psychic powers and save everyone from the mass haunting that’s threatening to destroy them all.

The 13-episode, hour-long drama will premiere in the U.S. on SYFY this fall and elsewhere globally on Netflix in 2017.

In the San Diego Comic-Con press room for the upcoming series, we got to speak with creator/showrunner Simon Barry, executive producers Chad Oakes & Michael Frislev, writer/executive producer Dennis Heaton, and stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Avan Jogia , Kandyse McClure and Meat Loaf. It was amusing when one person at my table referred to Meat Loaf as “Meat Loaf”—he immediately responded by telling to journalist to call him Meat, after all he wasn’t referring to the journalist by his last name!

Meat Loaf (“Doug Rennie”) & Vincent D’Onofrio (“Father Dan Carpenter”)

DOUG RENNIE (MEAT LOAF) is the town bully and a tyrannous handyman who makes it his mission to torment Roman Mercer. When Port Moore descends into chaos, he charges to the front line of the lynch mob, ready to point fingers.

FATHER DAN CARPENTER (VINCENT D’ONOFRIO) is a small-town priest with a dwindling congregation until the hauntings begin. As the town turns to religion for their salvation, he can’t help but be seduced by his newfound popularity and takes up the mantle as a new leader.

Kandyse McClure (“Dr. Landis Barker”) & Avan Jogia (“Roman Mercer”)

LANDIS BARKER (KANDYSE MCCLURE) is a pragmatic young research scientist who works for Lambda’s Port Moore branch. When the hauntings begin, she joins forces with the townspeople but ultimately believes science holds the key to saving the town.

ROMAN MERCER (AVAN JOGIA) is a troubled young loner, plagued by his lifelong ability to communicate with the spirit world, and yearns to be left alone by both the living and the dead. But when Port Moore comes under supernatural attack, he must overcome his resentment for the very people who have scorned him his whole life in order to save them and himself.
