Primetime Picks… 10/16/17

Last week Supergirl returned for its third season. Kara was still depressed about having said goodbye to Mon-El. While she still performed her duties as Supergirl, she let her funk affect her day job. James was getting upset with Kara for shirking her duties at the company and confronted her, but Kara ultimately decided being a reporter for CatCo was not for her, and quit. Meanwhile, a villain named Bloodsport launched an assault on National City, which included launching a torpedo during the unveiling of a statue in tribute of Supergirl. We later learned that he was working for evil real estate mogul Morgan Edge, who had been trying to make a hostile takeover of CatCo so that he could manipulate the news to benefit him. However, Lena Luthor stepped in and purchased the company herself. Meanwhile, Alex and Maggie finally set a date for their big wedding, and Alex asked J’onn to walk her down the aisle. After the dust has settled, it seemed like Kara was on the way back to being her old self, but only time will tell.

I’m not a fan of the dark, brooding superhero—that’s what dragged down The Flash last season. Supergirl has always been one of the lighter, funner superhero shows. The Kara/Supergirl that people fell in love with the first season was bubbly and happy, and I hope we return to that version sooner than later. It’s not like they killed off Mon-El, so it’s just a matter of time until he returns and she can stop being all mopey. In the meantime, I hope we get some interesting villains for Supergirl to take down.

In tonight’s episode, “Triggers”, a thief who has psychic powers attacks National City, immobilizing victims by tapping into their worst fears; James and Lena are at an impasse; Samantha starts her new job at L-Corp.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Good Doctor, The Big Bang Theory, Me, Myself & I, Lucifer, and The Gifted.

For additional suggestions on what to check out tonight, including The Big Bang Theory & The Gifted, check out the If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/16/17 post at TVisMyPacifier.com.
