Primetime Picks… 10/17/17

On last week’s episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake was happy to be out of jail and back at work, but he was tired being assigned to desk duty. However, in order to get back in the field and work on a real case, he needed to pass an evaluation, and the person giving that evaluation was Captain Holt. Even though Jake bungled the robbery case he was working on, Captain Holt was pleased by his new outlook on work and putting the case first, that it cleared Peralta for active duty. But Jake decided he needed some more time behind a desk first. Meanwhile Rosa thought Pimento was cheating on her and recruited Amy and Terry to help investigate. It turned out that he was just taking Spanish lessons in order to impress Rosa’s father. However, she had already decided to call off their relationship, and Pimento didn’t take the news well.

Tonight is the show’s annual Halloween Heist episode, which is usually one of the highlights of each season. The writers always throw in a lot of fun twists and misdirections that keep you guessing as to who is aligned with whom, and what is actually going on. I never know who is going to win the contest each year until the final moments when everything is revealed, and then I realize that so much more had been going on that I didn’t even notice…and I want to immediately re-watch the episode again to catch it all!

In tonight’s episode, “HalloVeen”, the Nine-Nine embarks on its fifth annual Halloween Heist and, as usual, everybody has a plan and no one is safe. Relationships and friendships are tested as the title “Amazing Human Slash Genius” must be snagged by midnight, leaving everyone pitted against each other.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Middle, Fresh Off the Boat, blackish, The Mayor, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, This Is Us, Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, The Mick, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, American Horror Story: Cult, and Chrisley Knows Best.

For additional suggestions on what to check out tonight, including NCIS & NCIS: New Orleans, check out the If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/17/17 post at TVisMyPacifier.com.
