Primetime Picks… 10/19/17

The Good Place continues to be one of my favorite comedies. Last week, our group put their plan into action—they would pretend to be be tortured by Vicky’s shenanigans, but in reality Michael would tip them off ahead of time so they could avoid any actual pain or suffering. At the same time, Chidi would help everyone, including Michael, learn to be better people. Chidi’s lesson of the week was centered around loss and death..and Michael to have his first revelation of what it means to die, which caused him to have an existential crisis…which turned into a mid-life crisis. Meanwhile, Vicki’s latest torture scheme was directed at Tahani. She would tell Tahani to plan a huge birthday party, but she would make sure that everyone went to a different party instead. Even though Tahani knew what was going to happen, this didn’t stop her from going all out planning her useless party. And she still ended up upset that the other party was better than hers…which led to the episode’s big twist, that Tahani and Jason ended up in bed together!

Was Jason & Tahani’s tryst just a one-night-stand, or is there actual feelings between them? (I really enjoyed Jason’s relationship with Janet at the end of last season, so I’m kind of hoping for the former.) How long can the group really hide their activities from Vicky? She had to have noticed Michael’s odd behavior in last week’s episode! Can the group really trust Michael, or will he just turn on them if he gets the chance? I enjoy this show so forking much—every episode ends with some big unexpected twist, and I never know what’s going to happen…except that the show will have me laughing out loud throughout!

In tonight’s episode, “The Trolley Problem”, Chidi and Eleanor tackle a famous ethical dilemma, leading to a conflict with Michael. Meanwhile, Tahani harbors a secret and confides in Janet.

Tonight I’ll also be watching/recording Superstore, Will & Grace, Gotham, Flipping Out, Nathan for You, Van Helsing, and Ghost Wars.
