Primetime Picks… 11/16/17

Last week Grey’s Anatomy aired its milestone 300th episode, and it was loaded with Easter eggs for longtime fans of the series—this was evident right from the beginning when the new class of interns were hanging out in the tunnel having a conversation in a scene that felt identical to one from first season. The big case of the week involved a roller-coaster car that had derailed at a local fair, trapping two patients who looked like dead ringers for George and Christina. To add to this, their pregnant friend looked just like Izzy, and she constantly used the word “seriously”. Meanwhile, it was the night of the Harper Avery awards, and Meredith was supposed to be there to find out if she won, but she didn’t want to leave her patient. Webber and Bailey set up a video feed in one of the operating rooms so Meredith could watch. As Jackson gave an acceptance speech on her behalf, mentioning all of the people Meredith had lost in her life, Meredith could see her mother Ellis smiling in the gallery above the OR.

I really enjoyed last week’s episode as it was a great tribute for the fans that was both extremely fun, but also quite heartfelt. I’m looking forward to tonight’s midseason finale, wondering if we are going to be left with any big cliffhangers to ponder about while the show is off the air for a couple months.

In tonight’s midseason finale, “Out of Nowhere”, a hacker compromises the hospital’s computer system, causing monitors, phones, labs and patient files to all go down. As technology fails them, chaos erupts and the doctors are forced to get creative in their methods to treat the patients.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Life in Pieces, Gotham, The Orville, Van Helsing, Ghost Wars, and Chrisley Knows Best.
