Primetime Picks… 12/5/17

Tonight The Middle reaches its landmark 200th episode! Last week Brick had a chance encounter with the new girl at school, and decided to make her his before she had the opportunity to meet any other, more normal kids at the school. So he roped Frankie and Mike into helping him with his scheme, which involved a scripted dinner with his parents. His plan worked, but also gained the attention of Cindy, who wanted him back. Meanwhile, Axl headed off to stay with Hutch for the weekend, but quickly discovered that his best friend had become an adult since he last saw him—he liked to keep his apartment clean and organized, and not like a messy dorm room. This gave Axl the wake up call he needed to realize it was time for him to grow up as well. And finally, Sue was alone for the weekend, and made the poor decision to watch a horror movie, leading to her inability to ever fall asleep again.

In its ninth/farewell season, The Middle continues to be a fun and heartwarming show. It’s amazing how much these actors and characters have grown over the years. It’ll be sad to see the series come to an end this year, but it’s great to see the show will do so while continuing to put out great episodes.

In tonight’s episode, “The 200th”, when Orson is named as one of the top 200 most livable cities in Indiana, Frankie is reminded that she has to come up with something to place in the time capsule that will be buried in the base of the newly rededicated Orson Cow. Meanwhile, when Bill Norwood informs Mike that he and Paula are separating, Mike is gobsmacked and starts to appreciate Frankie more; in order to win back Cindy, Brick must complete three acts of bravery for her; and Axl volunteers Sue to be his personal assistant.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Fresh Off the Boat, blackish, The Mayor, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, Will & Grace, Superstore, The Mick, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Chrisley Knows Best.
