Early this morning, Netflix dropped the second season of travel series Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father. The series—which is part travel documentary/part comedic road trip—follows the misadventures of a mismatched father/son due as they travel around the globe, learning about other cultures while also learning more about one other, and forming the relationship they never had. 30-year-old British comedian Jack Whitehall (Decline and Fall, Bad Education) is joined on this adventure by his much older, 78-year-old father, Michael. Their personalities couldn’t be any more different—Jack is free-spirited and up for anything, while his father is a bit grumpy, stuck in his ways, and doesn’t really like roughing it. This Odd Couple-like pairing leads to some really fun moments as the two must learn to work together. There is such a huge age difference between the two, and Jack was sent off to boarding school when he was really young, so he and his father never really had much of a relationship growing up. The series not only explores interesting new locations, food and cultures, but also provides some pretty heartwarming moments as you watch this father and son bond with one another. I thoroughly enjoyed the first season, which found Jack and Michael traveling across South East Asia so that Jack could experience the “gap year” he never got. This season it’s Michael’s turn to set the itinerary, and the pair take their adventures to Eastern Europe. I can’t wait to see what new locations they head to, what crazy antics they get up to, and what new ways they find to get on one another’s nerves—and if the only production still Netflix made available for season 2 is any evidence, it should be interesting!

Tonight I’ll also be watching/recording The Cool Kids and Wynonna Earp.
