Tonight IFC’s comedy/horror series Stan Against Evil makes a timely return for its third season, with back-to-back episodes on Halloween night. Last season, Stan (John C. McGinley) went back in time in a desperate attempt to save his wife Claire, but ultimately came to the realization that her death was predestined. So he said his goodbyes and accepted her fate. With Evie’s (Janet Varney) help, they took down the evil witch and escaped back to the present. However, it was too late—the portal connecting the land of the dead to the land of the living had been opened, and who knows what evil is headed towards Willard’s Mill! Oh, and the last time we saw Deputy Leon Drinkwater (Nate Mooney), he was kind of missing his head, so there’s that to deal with as well.

Stan Against Evil is just a fun sci-fi horror show that brings in crazy, over-the-top creatures of the week for Stan and the gang to deal with, but at the same time gives character growth in an over-arching storyline. I’m curious to see what evils arise from the hell portal, and how the gang manages to stop them and seal the door again. I also very interested in seeing how Leon’s head returns to his shoulders! It should be another fun (and way too short) season!

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I got the chance to speak with the cast and creator of the series. If this season is even half as fun as this gang, we are in for a real treat! Be sure to check out my interview videos.

Each week the series will be airing back-to-back episodes. In tonight’s first episode, “Hell Is What You Make It”, Evie is arrested for murder and committed to a psychiatric hospital; Stan attempts to rescue her, but everyone thinks he’s a demon; there may be a new way to free the souls cursed by Constable Eccles. Then, in “The Hex Files”, two eerily familiar paranormal investigators arrive to investigate the Black Hat Society; Stan searches for a bigger evil ally that could help defeat Constable Eccles.

IFC has also made the third episode of the season available on YouTube:

Tonight I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, American Housewife, Modern Family, Single Parents, A Million Little Things, Survivor, and American Horror Story: Apocalypse.
