Primetime Picks… 5/16/19

Tonight another season of NBC’s Superstore comes to an end, with a double dose of new episodes. Last week Amy faced some challenges in her new role as manager when word came down that she had to cut employee hours. At first Dina offered to take the blame for Amy, but once she started hearing everyone’s sad stories, she changed her position, and once again Amy was in the hot seat. Jonah came up with a plan to flood social media with anonymous bad reviews of the store, so that corporate would see that they were understaffed, and reinstate the hours. However, this backfired when Luanne from the HR department showed up, telling Amy that they determined that the reviews were coming from an employee using the corporate network to post them. As a result of the investigation, Dina finally saw the store camera footage of Garrett accidentally letting her birds out of their cages, and was livid he lied to her about the incident. So she got her revenge by lighting his collection of vintage Air Jordan sneakers on fire in the parking lot. Meanwhile, Carol, who recently saw Sandra with her boyfriend, decided to get payback, and turned Sandra in for the bad reviews. Sandra got fired, but as she was walking out, the rest of the employees cheered her on, calling her a hero. Spurred on by all this attention, she started rallying the rest of the employees, demanding they unionize.

Things look like they are about to get worse for Amy. What if all the employees decide to unionize and strike? This can’t be good for her future as manager of the store! I look forward to seeing how this all plays out (it’s great to see Sandra stand up for herself for once instead of being such a pushover all the time!). I wonder if we’ll be left with another big cliffhanger for the Fall.

In tonight’s first episode, “Sandra’s Fight”, Amy and Dina visit Cloud 9 corporate to fix problems caused by Sandra’s misguided activism; Jonah tries to sabotage an employee meeting; Garrett tries to prove to his co-workers that he’s a good person.
And in the season finale, “Employee Appreciation Day”, Amy and Jonah find themselves on opposing sides as corporate tries to win over employees by showering them with treats; when the company’s tactics grow more extreme, everyone must band together to save one of their own.

Tonight I’ll also be watching/recording Grey’s Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, iZombie, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

For additional suggestions on what to check out tonight, including the series finale of The Big Bang Theory, the season finales of Station 19 & S.W.A.T., and a new episode of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, check out the If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/16/19 post at TVisMyPacifier.com.
