About Home Before Dark:
9 year-old Hilde Lysiak scooped a murder in her new neighborhood on 4/2/2016 when the adult-run local news outlets said it was an accident.  She was dismissed and bullied online for reporting the murder; told she should be playing with dolls and having tea parties.  Hilde’s Dad, Matt, was a beat reporter for the NY Daily News who, after covering Newtown/Sandy Hook, decided with his wife that the world was a dark place and they’d prefer to leave NYC and home school their kids in their hometown in Pennsylvania.  It was 2 weeks into their move that Hilde’s article went viral. Hilde never stopped bravely reporting and at 13 years old, is the youngest member of the Society of Professional Journalists. She has interviewed Malala and Michele Obama, she has busted a high school heroin ring, a meth lab and a corrupt Fire department. She’s been run out of her small town for making it too hard to be corrupt without being exposed. The fictional version of Hilde and Matt and the Lysiak family are so much fun to watch and their adventures create an opportunity to talk to kids about how hard and weird and scary the world can be, and that with our families and friends we can get through anything.  Created by Dana Fox, Dara Resnik and Directed by Jon M. Chu (CRAZY RICH ASIANS, IN THE HEIGHTS).
