San Diego Comic-Con 2015 – Day 2 – Friday

Jul 28, 2015 Posted by in Features | 2 comments

Friday of Comic-Con was by far my busiest, with back-to-back-to-back press rooms. I have been creating separate posts with videos from each room, and have linked those below, along with photos from the roundtables.

My first press room of the day was for Falling Skies, which was sadly their final visit to SDCC. In the press room were director/executive producer Olatunde Osunsanmi and stars Drew Roy (“Hal Mason”), Sarah Carter (“Maggie”), Moon Bloodgood (“Anne”), Connor Jessup (“Ben Mason”), Colin Cunningham (“John Pope”) & Doug Jones (“Cochise”).

Next up was iZombie, which actually started a bit early. In the press room were executive producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright, and stars Rose McIver (“Liv Moore”), David Anders (“Blaine DeBeers”), Rahul Kohli (“Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti”) and Malcolm Goodwin (“Clive Babineaux”).

After that was the press room for the upcoming FOX series Minority Report. In the room were executive producers Darryl Frank, Max Borenstein & Kevin Falls as well as cast members Laura Regan (“Agatha”), Wilmer Valderrama (“Will Blake”), Stark Sands (“Dash”) & Meagan Good (“Vega”).

After that I had a short break, so I headed to the hotel lobby to use the wifi. Shortly afterwards, Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin walked in, mobbed by fans and autograph hounds.

I headed back upstairs to the Bob’s Burgers press room where there were just two of us there for the roundtables. I was the only one of us shooting video, so it ended up like an exclusive video interview. We got to speak with writers Jim Dauterive & Loren Bouchard as well as stars H. Jon Benjamin (“Bob”), John Roberts (“Linda”), Larry Murphy (“Teddy”), Eugene Mirman (“Gene”), Kristen Schaal (“Louise”) & Dan Mintz (“Tina”).

Afterwards I headed next door for the Archer press room. I was surprised that the room was so small, and that none of the talent had even arrived yet—especially since H Jon Benjamin had just been in the room next door. It turned out that the 15 of us who were in the press room were never told that the room had moved. So after we found this out, we booked it up two flights of stairs and joined the already in progress roundtables. Unfortunately this meant we got less than half of the cast members who were present. In the end, we only got videos of Aisha Tyler (“Lana Kane”), Judy Greer (“Cheryl Tunt”), and Jessica Walter (“Malory Archer”).

Next up was the press room for Syfy’s Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!. The room started a bit late as they did the press line before the roundtables. We got to speak with director Anthony C. Ferrante, writer Thunder Levin and stars Tara Reid (“April Wexler”) and Cassie Scerbo (“Nova Clarke”). Unfortunately I had to leave for my next room before Ian Zeiring made it to our table.

Well, it turns out I would have had plenty of time to stay at Sharknado because MTV’s Scream room started about 30 minutes late. However, once we did get started, it was run very efficiently and we got to speak everyone—stars Bella Thorne, Willa Fitzgerald, Amadeus Serafini, John Karna and Connor Weil, along with series executive producers Jaime Paglia and Jill Blotevogel.

After all these press rooms, I was exhausted, but on my way back to the hotel I was handed a pass for a Walking Dead Experience After Party at Petco, so I stopped by to check it out. I left almost as quickly as I entered—there was nothing going on, no party, no food, nothing! So I headed out back and took a few snapshots of the Walking Dead Experience.

On the way back to my hotel, I got some photos of a Fear The Walking Dead installation, the Batmobile parked on the side of the road, and some great Back to the Future Part II cosplayers.
